Deadly fire below US President’s Trump Tower residence

On Saturday, the Trump Tower, in Midtown, New York City, caught fire shortly before 18:00 EST (2200 UTC) on the 50th floor, claiming the life of a 67-year-old resident, Todd Brassner, who lived in apartment 50C. All other residents were evacuated without incident.

On Monday, Russian poet Alexander Byvshev was convicted under Russian criminal code Article 282§1 by a court in Oryol Oblast region of Russia for his 2015 seven-verse poem On Ukraine’s Independence.

Woolworths, Australia moves single-use plastic bags ban date to June 20

Brad Banducci, chief executive of Woolworths, a large retail supermarket in Australia, announced a plan to ban free single-use plastic bags in Woolworths stores in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia, from June 20 this year, earlier than the deadline set by some of the states’ legislation.
